Bone and Joint Hospital formally inaugurated, dedicated to public

JAMMU, Oct 18: The much awaited Bone and Joint Hospital was formally inaugurated and dedicated to the public of Jammu province today.
The Hospital was inaugurated by Dr VM Soodan, a senior retired faculty member and founder of the Orthopaedics Department in Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu in the presence of Principal and Dean of the Institution, Dr Ashutosh Gupta, HoD Orthopaedics Dr Sanjeev Gupta and other serving and retired faculty members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ashutosh Gupta emphasized on the fact that the Government is committed to healthcare and well being of the people of Jammu and is supporting them fully in every possible way. He said that in 1st phase, the physiotherapy and occupational therapy services have been started in the Bone & Joint Hospital and in the second phase, wards will be made functional in the next two weeks.
“In the third phase, elective surgeries will be started and all kinds of surgeries like arthroplasty, arthroscopy, spine, deformity correction, paediatric orthopaedics and limb reconstruction will be performed in the hospital,” the Principal said, adding, soon Ayushman Bharat scheme will also be implemented in the Hospital.
Dr Sanjeev Gupta informed that the Department is fully equipped to manage all kinds of Orthopaedics problems and the patients need not go elsewhere for treatment.
Earlier, a prayer meeting was organized in the form of Hawan-Pooja followed by Ardaas and reading of Kalma by clerics. Many senior retired faculty members namely Dr MN Gupta, Dr Dara Singh, Dr Sudesh Sharma, Dr Rajinder Singh, Dr Paramjit Singh and Dr Harish Dang also graced the occasion.
Various HoDs, faculty members from Orthopedics, Medical Superintendents and Deputy Medical Superintendents of allied hospitals, Corporator Bakshi Nagar Gourav Chopra, residents as well as nursing and paramedical staff were also present at the occasion.
The proceedings of the function were conducted by Dr Tahir Afzal and vote of thanks was given by Prof Abdul Ghani (Head of Unit).
