JAMMU, Oct 18: Virender Gupta, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Chowki Choura, today held a Public Darbar here at Village Bandral Khurd in the Chowki Choura Subdivision.
He was accompanied by Dr Raman Jandyal, Tehsildar; Shanker Manhas, AEE of PDD; Siraj-ud-Din, Tehsil Supply Officer, and other revenue officials.
One concern raised in the public gathering was the road connectivity to NH 144 Akhnoor-Poonch Highway.
The SDM promptly contacted the Project Manager of M/s Infra R&C Company, responsible for constructing Kappa Galla Tunnel, to ensure proper road connectivity under Corporate Social Responsibility, providing relief to the villagers.
The problem of low voltage in Ward number 3 and 5 of the Panchayat was brought to attention, with the AEE of PDD directed to investigate and rectify the issue promptly.
Additional demands included the construction of various link roads, which the SDM discussed with the concerned BDO, urging the initiation of construction work under the MG NREGA Scheme.
Participants also raised the issue of urgent repair of potholes on the Akhnoor to Bandral Khurd route. The AEE, PMGSY Akhnoor, explained that roadwork would commence once weather conditions improved.
The lack of proper mobile connectivity was noted, with plans to erect a BSNL Tower in Bandral Khurd to address the issue.
Potable drinking water problems were also discussed, and the SDM contacted the Executive Engineer of the Jal Shakti Department, Akhnoor, to ensure tap connections in specific wards and execute the sanctioned works under the Jal Jeevan Mission project.
Following the Darbar, the SDM and his team visited Government Middle School in Bandral Khurd, where they inspected the quality of the Mid-Day Meal Scheme.
The SDM interacted with the students and distributed sports items provided by the District Administration.
A surprise visit to the Anganwari Centre revealed record-keeping lapses, which were reported to the CDPO, Akhnoor.
On their way back, a checkpoint was set up in Chowki Choura, and traffic rule violators were fined on the spot, with a total of Rs 5,000 collected to ensure road safety in the area.
