JAMMU, Oct 19: One hundred twenty-two fresh cases of dengue were reported today from various parts of Jammu and Kashmir, taking the total number of cases so far this year to 3951.
A Health official said that 79 cases were reported today from Jammu district alone while 15 cases were reported from Kathua, 11 from Udhampur, 7 from Samba, 5 from Ramban, 1 each from Rajouri, Poonch and Doda districts and 2 from Kashmir region. The positive patients include 108 adults and 14 children, he added.
He said maximum 2634 cases reported so far are from Jammu district followed by Udhampur district with 477 cases, Kathua with 307 cases and Samba with 260 cases. “There were 74 cases in Rajouri, 45 in Ramban, 41 in Reasi, 30 in Doda, 25 in Poonch, 4 in Kishtwar, 21 in Kashmir and 29 from other parts of the UT,” the official said.
The official further informed that a total of 1273 dengue patients have been admitted to the hospitals till date and of these, 1149 have been discharged and 89 patients are still under treatment while as dengue has claimed four lives so far this season.
“The dengue cases are rising with each day,” the official said, and advised that citizens should ensure no stagnation of water in and around their houses as mosquitoes responsible for dengue breed in stagnant water.
