Youth kills young girl’s father

JAMMU, June 23: A youth murder a civilian, who objected to his forced entry into the room of his daughter in the mid-night last night, at village Phinter under the jurisdiction of Billawar police station in Kathua district. Police have arrested the accused within few hours of the crime.
The victims has been identified as Sham Lal, 42, son of Ram Saran R/o Phinter and the accused as Som Raj alias Rahul son of Uttam Chand R/o Didwara, Phinter, an employee of Hot and Chilly Bar, Udhampur.
Police said Som Raj along with his associate entered into the house of Sham Lal by breaking the net window at 1 am early today and tried to molest his daughter Aarti, who had just passed Matric.
The girl objected and raised an alarm. Her father, Sham Lal woke up and asked the boy to leave the house. In frustration, the boy hit Sham Lal with a kirch leading to his on spot death.
The body along with his associate escaped from the spot.
Getting a report, police parties headed by SDPO Basohli Mohammad Rafiq and SHO Billawar Irfan Parvez swung into action and nabbed the accused Som Raj from Majalata by tracking his mobile telephone number.
Police said the weapon of offence from his possession.
A number of people gathered at Phinter and protested ‘goondagardi’ of the boy. They demanded stern action against him. The people dispersed after being told about arrest of the accused. He has been booked under Section 302 RPC.
Police said they were trying to ascertain whether an associate of the accused was also involved in the murder.
Police parties in the investigations were supervised by SSP Kathua Atul Goel and Additional SP Zahid Manhas.
