POONCH, Oct 19: The police arrested two notorious drug-peddlers and recovered about 30 gms of heroin from their possession in Poonch area today.
Official sources giving details said that a police party from Poonch laid a naka on Poonch- Surankote road near Dalhera for the checking of vehicles. During this process, the police team intercepted a Bullet Motorcycle bearing Registration No. JK12/5554 coming from Kalai side for checking.
On being stopped by policemen, two persons riding the bike, started behaving differently which created suspicion in the minds of police personnel at the Naka. On checking, 8 gms of heroin was recovered from the possession of one of the riders, who disclosed his identity as Mohd. Khushal, son of Noor Din from village Bhainch, Tehsil Haveli (Poonch). About 22 gms of heroin was recovered from the possession of pillion-rider namely, Tahir Bashir, son of Mohd Bashir from village Sheendarra in Tehsil Haveli (Poonch).
Both the persons were arrested immediately and the bike was seized. A case FIR No. 178/2023 U/S 8/21/22/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Poonch in this connection. Investigation of the case has been set into motion to unearth the forward/backward linkages.
