JAMMU, June 23: Former HRD Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dr Murli Manohar Joshi today lambasted the Dr Manmohan Singh led UPA Government at Centre for deteriorating economy of the country.
“The economic condition of the country is destabilizing day by day under UPA rule”, Dr Joshi told reporters here this afternoon. Instead of showing concern for the same the Prime Minister who recently was on G 20 nations tour showed more concern for European economy to save it from slow down and announced 10 lakh dollar as aid to bring it back on rails.
Criticizing the wrong economic policies of the Government, he said that a wrong notion is being created that increasing growth rate would lead to development and generation of employment avenues while the trend is totally reverse. To achieve the reasonable economic growth in the country the Government should adopt the broad based economic policies keeping in view nation’s own resources. But the policies adopted by Dr Singh have led to increasing unemployment and receding of the economic growth, he added.
He said till the steps are taken for the equal development of entire population, problem will not be solved. Even during the debates at national and international levels this economic policy was termed wrong, he added.
Stressing on adopting ways and means to save the Indian economy from deterioration he said “we have to think about the new module of development as per Indian resources which can take nation ahead.”
He said the BJP is struggling a lot to save the country’s economy from worsening and in this regard the Party gave a call of nation-wide jail Baro Andolan yesterday.
Dr Joshi warned that the wrong economic policies of UPA will not only lead to price rise and unemployment but soon the nation would be facing another problem of hike in the cost of crude oil and there are apprehensions that the country will become bankrupt if the measures are not adopted to contain the situation, he added.
The economic crisis will also lead to security threat and China has already encircled India with the support of Pakistan and Sri Lanka. China, which made violations at Line of Actual Control 400 to 500 times is trying to enter Bay of Bengal also. This is a big question for India’s security, he warned.
He while accusing the UPA, said the alliance has totally failed on economic and security fronts and asked it either to mend its ways and change policies or quit.
The BJP leader, who totally opposed the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Indian market said this will affect the small investors of the country. He said containing the increasing corruption and reducing taxes on petrol will also help in normalization of the situation.
BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas, national executive member and chief spokesperson J&K Dr. Jitendra Singh & general secretary Sat Sharma (CA) were also present in press conference.
