BJP questions induction of Prof Soz in Congress State Executive

JAMMU, Oct 21: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) strongly criticised Congress for appointing a person with doubtful credentials to State Executive Committee.
Expressing his dismay over the decision of Congress to induct Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz in State Executive Committee by the Congress High Command , BJP general secretary, Dr D K Manyal told reporters here, today that the person who has always condemned security forces for killings and supported separatists and antinational elements has been inducted in Executive Committee of the Party.
Manyal, said the newly-appointed member has a history of mocking the sacrifice of brave ‘jawans’ of security forces by promoting separatist agenda.
He said Prof Soz had on multiple instances urged the Government to talk with terrorists who killed the army jawans. How can such a person ever work for the people of J&K, when he sympathises with terrorists, asked Dr Manyal?
Rather than supporting security forces for protecting the innocent people and safeguarding the unity and integrity of the nation, Soz has always raised fingers on them.
Dr Manyal said there have been numerous instances where Prof. Soz has advocated dialogue with terrorists and reiterated the stand taken by leaders in Pakistan. In April 2017, while speaking to the media, Prof. Soz stated that the Kashmir issue is a problem created by India and not Pakistan and He has openly supported the cause of Kashmiri separatists and terrorists such as Burhan Wani and mastermind of Parliament attack Afzal Guru.
Dr Manyal said in November 2018, Prof. Soz targeted the armed forces saying they were taking undue advantage of AFSPA. In his book, “Kashmir: Glimpses of History and The Story of Struggle”, launched in June 2018, Prof Soz has written, “Musharraf had explained that if Kashmiris were given a chance to exercise their free will, they would prefer to be independent. In fact, this assessment of Musharraf seems to be correct even today!,” Manyal quoted Prof Soz’s book.
