Sir,
In the recent months, Dengue catastrophe in Jammu created panic among the people because of the fact many deaths have caused in its outbreak. It is a known fact that the factor behind this catastrophe is unhygienic atmosphere in and around. The open sites which have been made garbage dens is a major factor in the occurance of dengue.
Secondly our drainage system which is damaged one stagnates the water. This stagnant water breads deadly mosquitoes at the spot and pave way to Dengue.
In households too, people usually keep open water containers which is not proper. As a responsible citizens, we need to contribute a little towards the welfare of our society. The Municipal authorities can do a lot in mitigating this dangerous distress provided sincere efforts are made in its total eradication. The Municipal authorities have taken some measures i.e fogging in some areas but still large number of localities remain unfogged. Drive in this behalf was also made in the areas where reports of Dengue victim has surfaced. So good and so forth but the Municipal authorities should rise above Pick and Choose Policy in this matter and need to undertake much more cleanliness drives and make people aware through print and electronic media how to prevent themselves from the dreadful Dengue. The situation demands attention of the authorities for the welfare of the people.
