JAMMU, Jan 11: Sikh Unity Forum (SUF) today demanded the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to settle down the long pending demands of PoK refugees of 1947 and threatened to go on hunger strike if Government failed to do so before Parliamentary elections.
Chairing the meeting of Forum held here today, its convener, Rajinder Singh, said it is very clear that Central Government is ready to solve the grievances of PoK refugees of 1947 but NC partner of Coalition Government in the State is adopting delaying tactics in solving their issues.
He demanded a compensation of Rs 25 lakh for each suffered family for their proper rehabilitation in the State.
Singh stressed that it is the moral duty of Congress Party to force their coalition partner in the State to take an early decision on refugees’ issue in the Cabinet meeting otherwise the Forum along with PoK refugees will bound to sit on hunger strike to press for their demand.
