RAJOURI, Oct 22: The road from Akhori to Patti Planghar is in worse condition and at some point it’s difficult for the vehicles to ply on the road as the material used for blacktopping of the road was of very poor quality and it got uprooted within few weeks.
The road at one location is in such a bad shape that it is impossible for vehicles to ply at this stretch and at the same point there is deep gorge and the road became accident prone. Locals told that due to worse condition most of the vehicles are not plying on the road and they added that they are putting the lives of their children at risk as driver of school bus also shown his helplessness as it’s very risky to pass that stretch.
They added that responsibility must be fixed on those in whose presence such a substandard material was used on the road. This is the road which provides connectivity to large areas but not maintained properly by the concerned department. Due to worse conditions of road locals have to walk on foot for 5-6 km to reach the main road and there is no benefit of such a road. The R&B Department is not paying any attention towards this perhaps they are waiting for some big tragedy on the road and only than they will repair this road. Moreover, locals added that department promised for blacktopping of remaining 500 m portion of the road but nothing has been done and mostly small kids have to skip school as school bus can’t reach up to the village.
They added that at most parts of the road the drainage is not maintained properly and at one point the water is diverted to graveyard from last four years for which the complaints were also registered on Azaala in DC Office Rajouri but the Department officials remained inactive.
Locals have appealed the DC Rajouri Vikas Kundal to direct concerned officials to immediately repair the road by recovering the amount from those responsible for using substandard material previously and complete blacktopping of the remaining portion of this road by keeping provision for proper drainage system.
