Infiltration bid foiled in Uri, 2 militants killed

SRINAGAR, Oct 22: Two infiltrating militants were killed as security forces foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of Baramulla district today.
An Army official said that based on a specific input, a joint operation was launched along the LoC on Saturday.
He said that during the operation contact was established with infiltrating militants and a gunfight ensued.
He further said that two infiltrating militants were killed and the other infiltrators fled away taking along the dead bodies.

The security forces recovered two AK series rifles, six pistols, and four Chinese grenades. However, due to adverse weather conditions, the search operation has been temporarily suspended and will resume once the weather improves.
“In a joint operation launched by 8RR, Baramulla Police and Intelligence agencies on 21st October, an infiltration bid was foiled by alert troops along LoC in Uri sector, Baramulla. Contact was established with infiltrating terrorists and firefight ensued. Two infiltrators were killed. Two AK rifles, six pistols and four hand grenades were recovered. Operations in progress,” he said.
It may be mentioned here that militants are trying to infiltrate into Kashmir before the mountain passes get closed due to snowfall.
Director General of Police Dilbag Singh yesterday said that many militant launch pads have been crushed to a large extent.
He said that the activities happening there have been largely dealt with but there are some camps along the border where such activities like training take place.
The DGP said that infiltration of militants into Kashmir has been effectively managed but there have been some attempts. He said 90 percent of these cases have been dealt with might on the border and those who managed to cross over have also been eliminated.
