Chandigarh’s Laisal Roy wins All India Devotional Song Competition

KATRA, Oct 24: Laisal Roy, a teenage girl from Chandigarh, was declared as the winner of the All India Devotional Song Competition as the Navratra Festival 2023 concluded in a spectacular grand finale in Katra today.
While Roy received a gold prize worth Rs 3 lakh and a recording contract with Venus Worldwide Entertainment, the second and third prize winners-Anmol Raja and Sukhjinder-both from Punjab, received gold prizes worth Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50000 respectively.
A statement said that the Navratra festival event was a collaborative effort between the Directorate of Tourism Jammu, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Katra, and the Divisional Administration Jammu.
The highlight of the festival’s culminating day was the Shobha Yatra, inaugurated by Anand Jain, IGP Jammu, and Suleman Ch, DIG Udhampur-Reasi range, alongside other dignitaries.
This vibrant procession showcased colorful tableaux and captivating cultural presentations, effectively portraying the diversity of Hindu mythology. Enthusiastic crowds joined the parade, contributing to the overall grandeur.
The festival’s grand climax took place at the serene Yog Ashram Complex, where the All India Devotional Song Competition concluded with heart-touching performances.
Notable guests, including Anand Jain, IGP Police Jammu, and Suleman Ch, DIG Reasi-Udhampur range, graced the event, along with several distinguished figures from the film and media industry.
Anand Jain praised the event’s success and thanked the organizers, acknowledging support from various individuals and organizations, including the film and media industry.
Babila Rakwal, Deputy Commissioner Reasi, commended the efforts of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, the Tourism Department, and all stakeholders for their role in making the event a success.
Sunaina Sharma Mehta, Joint Director Tourism, highlighted the global live telecast of the event, which greatly promoted Jammu and Kashmir tourism on a global scale. She invited the film industry to explore the region for film shoots, emphasizing its untapped potential in adventure, pilgrimage, and rural tourism.
Rakesh Wazir, Chairman of the All India Devotional Competition and President of the Hotel & Restaurant Association in Katra, orchestrated the event with grandeur, ensuring its resounding success.
Vipan Chandra, Additional SP Katra; Deepak Dubey, SDM Katra; Arif Lone, AD Tourism Katra among others attended the grand finale of the event in Katra.
