Srinagar Oct 24: Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari today visited forward locations near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri and Kupwara sectors.
An official said that the IAF chief along the LoC visited the IAF and Army soldiers to celebrate Dussehra with them.
He said the IAF chief’s visit continued the tradition of top Army brass as well as top Government Ministers spending festivals with troops in forward areas.
“On the occasion of Dussehra, Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari today visited forward locations near the Line of Control in the Uri and Kupwara sectors in Jammu and Kashmir to meet the Indian Air Force and Indian Army troops deployed there,” the official said.
He further said that the visiting Air Chief Marshal congratulated the soldiers posted along the LoC in north Kashmir on Dussehra and encouraged them.
Last year also on Diwali, ACM Chaudhari had visited forward areas along the LoC to meet troops deployed there.
Significantly, the visit by the Air Chief Marshal comes after a soldier was injured in sniper firing by Pakistan in Karai sector of Kupwara district last week. Following the firing incident, the Indian Army had intensified surveillance along the border areas in the frontier district of Kupwara.
During the intensified surveillance two infiltrating militants were killed as security forces foiled an infiltration bid along the LoC in Uri sector two days ago.
