JAMMU, Oct 25: Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha has demanded Bharat Ratna Award to Pt Prem Nath Dogra posthumously for his distinguished services in keeping the J&K State united after partition of the country.
A resolution in this regard was adopted by the Sabha during a function in connection with birth anniversary of Late Pt Prem Nath Dogra at the Sabha Bhawan, here today, under the chairmanship of Ved Parkash Sharma, President DBPS. The function was attended by representatives of various social and religious organizations across Jammu province.
During the programme, the resolution was moved by Ex DC B S Jamwal and seconded by senior member of the Sabha Advocate P C Sharma for seeking Bharat Ratna Award to Late Pt Prem Nath Dogra posthumously. The resolution was unanimously adopted by raising of hands by the audience.
Addressing on the occasion, senior BJP leader Chander Mohan Sharma recalled that Pt Prem Nath Dogra united people of Jammu and launched a strong agitation against Sheikh Abdullah Government by raising the slogan of ‘Ek Vidhan, Ek Pradhan Ek Nishan’ and spearheaded the agitation under the banner of Praja Parishad seeking extension of all provisions of the Constitution of India to the J&K State. He said that conferring the highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna to Late Pt Prem Nath Dogra would be befitting tribute to the son of the soil.
Function was also attended by some prominent social workers, public representatives, literary personalities, Doctors, poets, writers and Corporators of Jammu Municipal Corporation. The stage was managed by Subash Shastri, spokesperson of the DBPS.
Pt V M Magotra, N C Sharma, M L Sharma, Satyanand Sharma, Jagan Nath Sharma, M L Padha, Gurdass Sharma, Shiv Ram Sharma, Ritiz Khajuria, Davinder Sharma (Baboo), Rajesh Badgotra, K L Sharma, Ex SDM Davinder Sharma, Chander Mohan Sharma, Sunil Sharma, Ramesh Sharma, Prem Balotra, Brita Ram, Raman Sharma were among those present in the function.
