Blind murder case worked out within 48 hours

UDHAMPUR, Oct 25: Police claimed to have worked out the blind murder case at Balota Upperla, under the jurisdiction of Basantgarh Police Station and arrested the accused within 48 hours.
“Preliminary investigations hint that illicit relations of the accused with wife of the deceased led to the murder,” said Additional SP Udhampur Anwar-ul Haq, while sharing details with the media persons, here today.
Deceased Puran Chand, age 42 years, son of Dina Nath of Balota Upperla in tehsil Basantgarh was found murdered by some unidentified persons on October 23 and his dead body was lying at Lakhera Nallah in Balota Upperla. A case FIR No. 33/2023 U/S 302 IPC was registered in this connection at Police Station Basantgarh and investigation was taken up by Inspector Sohan Singh Bandral, SHO Police Station Basantgarh, under the supervision of Dy SP Vishal Manhas, SDPO Ramnagar and Anwaar Ul Haq, Addl SP Udhampur.
During the course of investigation, on the basis of human and technical inputs, suspect Bikram Kumar, son of Jagdish Chand of Basantgarh was rounded up. On sustained questioning, Bikram Kumar confessed his involvement in murder of the deceased Puran Chand during the intervening night of October 22-23 at Balota Upperla.
According to Police, the accused further disclosed that he had an out of marriage relationship with the wife of the deceased. On October 22 late evening when the accused had gone to the residence of the deceased, the duo had scuffle following which former slit throat of the victim. The accused further revealed that after the murder, he dumped the dead body to nearby Lakhera Nallah.
On disclosure of the accused, Police have also recovered weapon of offence from his residence in presence of EMIC Basantgarh. Further investigation into the case is going on, said the Addl SP.
