SRINAGAR, Oct 25: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah today met the delegation of newly constituted district body of the women’s wing for Kupwara at the party headquarters Srinagar.
Among others Party’s Women Wing State president Shameema Firdous, chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, Provincial president Women’s Wing Er. Sabiya Qadri were also present on the occasion.
The delegation consisted of District president Dr Rabiya Wani, District vice president Fatima Bano, Rabia Khan, Aarifa Bano, Meena Bano, Saleema Bano, Masooda Bano and Shaheena Bano.
On the occasion, Omar conveyed good wishes to the newly constituted district committee members, impressing upon them to actively take up the issues concerning the women folk across the frontier district. He asked the women’s wing functionaries to reach out to women in villages, towns and also those belonging to the tribal and other backward communities.
He further impressed upon the women’s wing functionaries to spearhead the party’s mass contact programme on ground, saying that women have emerged from the label of silent voters becoming key players, who will actively contribute towards strengthening the party on the ground.
