Two held with 14 Kg poppy straw

JAMMU, Oct 25: Two individuals were arrested with 14 kilograms of poppy straw from Tawi Bridge area here today, police said.
They said a team of Police Post Sidhra led by SDPO Nagrota Akash Kohli, assisted by SHO Nagrota, Inspector Vishav Partap Singh and incharge Police Post Sidhra, PSI Arun Kumar, while on naka duty at Tawi Bridge, Sidhra, rounded up two suspected persons for checking.
During search of their belongings, he said, 14 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered, said police.
Police have arrested the accused identified as Gurmail Singh son of Dalmir Singh of Jaspal Amritsar, and Muskan of Khabbapura, District Pildhit, Uttar Pradesh, and booked them in case FIR number 439/2023 under sections 8/15 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Nagrota.
Further investigation into the case is underway, they said.
