CEC Kargil visits Thasgam-Thuina constituency

JAMMU, Oct 25: Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohammad Jaffer Akhoon today visited Thasgam-Thuina constituency to understand the needs, aspirations and concerns of the people.
He was accompanied by Superintending Engineer PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Superintending Engineer PWD, ACD Kargil, SDM Sankoo, CEO, Assistant Director Tourism, along with other officials.
During his visit, the CEC held a series of interactions and meetings with key stakeholders, including PRI members and villagers of Kamutul, Thuvina, Gontabcha, Brakoo, Humree, Straqburik, Lalung Thasgam and Stiangkung.
The villagers apprised the CEC about the issues such as infrastructure development, roads, healthcare, education, construction of lift irrigation, drinking water scarcity, upgradation of High Schools into Higher Secondary, and several other issues.
The CEC assured that all the genuine demands of the people will be solved in a phased manner.
He emphasized the importance of participatory governance, claiming, “I am committed to work hand in hand with the people of Kargil to address their most pressing challenges and to harness the region’s potential.”
At the outset, he instructed I&FC Department to resolve the issues of irrigation canals in these villages on priority. He also directed the concerned officials to speed up the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) works in these villages and instructed for its completion at the earliest.
The CEC also directed the Tourism Department for expedite of Home-stays in villages to boost the economy of the locals.
Later, he chaired a meeting at Conference Hall, Sankoo, with the elected Councillors of Sankoo and Lankerchey, PRI members and district officers.
The Councillors apprised him about issues of JJM, lift irrigation, PMGSY road compensation, shortage of doctors at CHC Sankoo and urged to outsource plumbers for the convenience of the people.
The CEC assured to resolve all the matters on priority and instructed the district officers to execute the works in close coordination with the public representatives and PRI members.
