JAMMU, Oct 25: Murti Sathapana of Mata Jaya Devi, Mata Vijaya Devi and Mata Mangala Devi was performed at Geeta Bhawan, Vinayak Nagar Mutthi by Vijeshwar family of Bijbehara, Kashmir.
A large number of devotees participated in the religious function and paid obeisance to the deities. The installation ceremony was performed by religious scholars by chanting Vedic Mantras. On the occasion a Mahayagya was also performed and the devotees were served Prashad after Puranahuti.
In addition to this the prominent people of Bijbehara town and adjoining areas who have made a remarkable contribution towards the community cause were honoured. They included Brij Nath Raina, A K Koul, A K Tickoo, Prof Makhan Lal Malla, A K Jyotshi, Vijay Kumar Pandit of Mahend, Pushkar Nath Jyotshi, Bushan Lal Bhat (ex MLC). Besides, Swami Kumar Ji and Arjan Nath Bhat president, Geeta Bhawan Muthi were also honoured by the Trust. On the occasion rich tribute were paid to martyrs Pushkar Nath Koul, Ravi Ji Fotedar, P L Ticku, Niranjan Nath Raina (Batgund), and Dwarika Nath Pandit Mahend.
The function was held under the supervision of president of the Vijeshwar Devasthan Trust, Sanjay Kumar Daimby. He highlighted the history of Vaijeshwar and said Kashmiri Pandits of the area have played an immense role in enriching the culture and civilization from times immemorial.
He said Vijeshwar was a great learning centre in ancient Kashmir and Trust is working hard to develop the ancient shrines and temples in the area.
