GDCT hosts Gojri writers’ meet

JAMMU, Oct 26: The Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust (GDCT), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to serving the tribals of Jammu & Kashmir for the past three decades, today hosted a Gojri writers’ meet here in the premises of the GDCT.
During the event, MS Chouhan, General Secretary of GDCT, extended a warm welcome to the writers from various parts of Jammu & Kashmir and other participants.
Notable figures in attendance included Advocate Shah Mohd Chowdhary, Chairman of the Trust, Haji Ali Hussain Hakla, Former Chairman, Arshad Ali Choudhary, Senior Vice Chairman, Hamid Hussain, Vice Chairman, and Dr. Meraj Din Chouhan, among others.
The writers and guests praised the Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust, particularly Dr Masud A Choudhary, the founder of GDCT and former Vice Chancellor of BGSBU, for their efforts in promoting education among tribals and preserving their culture.
They also suggested various measures for improving Gojri language and literature. Notable contributors included Dr Rafique Anjum, Dr Javaid Rahi, Abdul Ghani Gayoor, John Mohammad Hakeem, Prof Mirza Khan Waqar, Karam Din Chopra, Ahmed Din Shanas, and Abdul Hameed Kasana.
The meeting featured the release of the book “Yaadan Ga Dard,” written by Sikander Hayat Tariq, with Nikhat Choudhary highlighting the book’s meaningful content.
GDCT management honored various individuals with mementos and certificates of appreciation for their significant contributions to the promotion of the Gojri language. Among the awardees were Sikander Hayat Tariq, Ahmed Din Shanas, Dr Javaid Rahi, Dr Rafique Anjum, Jaan Mohd Hakeem, Abdul Hameed Kasana, Karam Din Chopra, Abdul Ghani Gayoor, Prof M K Waqar, Abdul Salam Kousari, Jameela Choudhary, Akhter Un Nisa, and others.
Shah Mohammad Chowdhary shared the initiatives taken and the progress achieved in the development of the Gojri Language, despite various challenges.
Arshad Ali Choudhary, Senior Vice Chairman expressed his appreciation for the writers’ contributions and thanked all the guests, media persons, trustees, and staff for the successful organization of the writers’ meet.
