Leopard kills cow, people stage protest

RAJOURI, Oct 26: The people staged protest demonstration today against the Wild Life Department after a cow was killed by leopard in Sunderbani area of district Rajouri last night.
Reports said a leopard killed a cow at village Rah Di Keri in Bajwal area of Sunderbani last night. Angry villagers, under the leadership of retired Army Captain Swarn Singh Chib, raised slogans against the concerned department officials, alleging that more than a dozen pets in the area have become prey to leopards in the last one month. Satpal said that his cattle were in the compound when the wild beast attacked.
The people of village Rah Di Keri, Bhajwal were under terror for the last few weeks and had also informed Wild Life Department and Forest officials about the matter.
But the Forest/ WL Department remained inactive. Bodh Raj another villager from the same area said that for the last few days, the leopard is seen by the villagers and this leopard has killed more than a dozen pet animals like cows, dogs, sheep and goats etc.
