RAJOURI, Oct 26: An army soldier posted at a forward post in Peer Kalawa area under Manjakot Police Station of Rajouri district has died after being shot under suspicious circumstances.
It is being believed that the soldier has committed suicide by shooting himself, but no Army officer has yet confirmed this.
According to sources, constable Harsimran Singh was deployed with 49 RR battalion of the Army. He allegedly shot himself at the post on Thursday afternoon. Hearing the sound of bullet, other soldiers thought that it could be a terrorist attack. When they reached the spot, Harsimran was lying in a pool of blood.
He was brought to the nearby Army Health Centre where the doctor declared him dead. Manjakote police has taken cognizance.
