JAMMU, Oct 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hand over 51,000 appointment letters to youth virtually in this month’s Rozgar Mela on October 28 spread across around 45 locations including Jammu where Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region and Cooperation BL Verma will distribute the job letters physically while Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh will coordinate the programme from New Delhi.
In the upcoming Rozgar Mela, Indian Railways is a major contributor with approximate 14,000 jobs in different categories, officials told the Excelsior.
Various other Ministries involved in Saturday’s Rozgar Mela include Home, Finance, Defence, Postal, Education, Health, Science, and Technology and Telecommunication.
A total of 16 Ministries have made recruitments whose appointment letters will be issued in the Rozgar Mela on October 28.
“The Prime Minister will give as many as 51,000 appointment letters to the youth and address them through video conferencing. The Union Ministers will handover job letters to the youth at around 45 locations physically including Jammu,” they said.
Union Minister BL Verma will reach here in the morning of October 28 and physically distribute job letters to the youth after the Prime Minister’s address, at Jammu Convention Centre.
“A number of youth in Jammu region are scheduled to get the appointment orders,” the officials said.
Saturday’s Rozgar Mela will complete a year of monthly distribution of appointment letters by the Prime Minister across the country through video conferencing in various Central Government departments. In every month, 51,000 to 71,000 job letters are being given by the Prime Minister.
The Indian Railways will hand over appointment letters to 14,000 job aspirants in various categories in this month’s Rozgar Mela.
Beginning from the first Rozgar Mela in October 2022, the total number of appointments given to job seekers by the Railways will reach 1,54,342.
Appointment letters in the Railways include Track Maintainers, Assistant Loco Pilots, Helpers, Assistant Points Man, Station Masters, Teaching Staff, and Nursing Staff among others.
The Indian Railways has recruited over 7,000 women in various posts in Group C category following nationwide Rozgar Mela events.
According to the Railways, a total of 139,652 candidates in various posts have been filled up against the target of 1.54 lakh vacancies by October-end 2023.
Sources said the Rozgar Melas are expected to continue every month for some more time as large numbers of vacancies are being filled by the Central Government in various departments.
Jammu and Kashmir has also been beneficiary of Rozgar Melas as a number of local youth got appointment letters in almost every Mela. In addition, J&K hosted an exclusive Rozgar Mela which was also addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually to distribute the letters.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had recently stated that recruitment process in UT Government departments has been expedited and many vacancies will be filled.
The Rozgar Mela is a step towards fulfillment of the commitment of the Prime Minister to accord highest priority to employment generation. The Rozgar Mela is expected to act as a catalyst in further employment generation and provide meaningful opportunities to the youth for their empowerment and participation in national development, the sources said.
The newly inducted appointees are also getting an opportunity to train themselves through Karmayogi Prarambh, an online module on iGOT Karmayogi portal, where more than 673 e-learning courses have been made available for ‘anywhere any device’ learning format, they added.
