After ‘Scan & Share,’ ABDM J&K starts online booking of OPD tickets

‘576 facilities in J&K to be covered under digital mission’

Srinagar, Oct 28: After the implementation of the Scan & Share Queue Management System in hospitals, the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) J&K has now launched the online issuance of OPD tickets, allowing citizens to conveniently reserve their OPD tickets from their homes.
While all the QR Codes are available online, the officials said that the individuals must scan the QR Code of the healthcare facility to obtain a token valid for 12 hours, during which the citizen must physically visit the hospital or healthcare facility.
Officials emphasized that an individual cannot request a token more than once within 30 minutes of the initial issuance, noting that the QR codes for all healthcare institutions are available on the official website, abdmjk.in.
Furthermore, the officials informed that the system in place is expected to expand further to include digital doctor consultations and other new features, making it more convenient for people seeking healthcare services in hospitals across J&K.
They stressed that the innovative digital initiative, which is set to transform the way people seek doctor consultations, has brought considerable relief to the citizens of J&K, particularly by reducing the inconvenience of waiting in long hospital queues.
It has been further stated that the National Health Authority (NHA), under the Government of India (GoI), is actively working on integrating UPI Payment Gateways within the ABDM Ecosystem.
This integration, officials noted, will enable citizens to make online payments for hospital fees and charges without the need to spend hours waiting in queues.
This is not it as the ABDM ecosystem is also working on a broader vision of integrating all citizens’ health records into a vertical health repository, which will be overseen by a consent manager.
“This will ensure the secure storage and sharing of health records with healthcare providers through a consent-based mechanism,” the officials said.
They underlined that health data will not be stored by the government but will follow a federated structure, making it accessible through various platforms, including government and private healthcare institutions nationwide.
The efforts being made under the digital mission, officials say, aim to establish a paperless, seamless, transparent, and accountable healthcare system.
Secretary of the H&ME Department, Bhupinder Kumar, commented on the overall digital healthcare efforts, stating that they aim to ensure that service delivery is easy and hassle-free.
“The Ayushman Bharat digital health infrastructure aims to simplify healthcare delivery for patients and their attendants across the Union Territory of J&K,” he said.
The Additional Mission Director of ABDM J&K, Dr Shafqat Khan, while sharing the details, mentioned that the digital mission has been implemented in 117 healthcare institutions across J&K and will soon expand to cover 576 facilities to benefit more people.
He stated, “The necessary HMIS software (E-Sahaj) will be installed, and the process of collecting electronic medical records will begin, starting from Primary Healthcare Centers and Health and Wellness Centers up to Tertiary Care Hospitals.”
He further added that 82 per cent of public healthcare professionals, including doctors and nurses, have been registered on the HPR, and the registration of private healthcare facilities is also progressing rapidly.
