JAMMU, Oct 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today distributed 51,000 appointment letters to the youth recruited in different Central Government departments at the Rozgar Mela in virtual event and declared that the exercise underscores his Government’s commitment to the youth in the country.
The Prime Minister addressed the recruits virtually while the Union Ministers handed over job letters to the youth physically at 37 locations across the country.
Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh coordinated the programme from New Delhi while Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region and Cooperation BL Verma delivered appointment letters to 314 youth physically in Jammu.
In his address, Modi said his Government has boosted employment opportunities in traditional as well as emerging sectors like renewable energy, defence exports and automation.
The Government is not only providing employment but also maintaining a transparent recruitment process and efforts have been made to restructure and streamline the examination procedure, he stressed.
Noting that lakhs of youngsters have been given appointment letters so far in the ‘Rozgar Mela’ being organised since October last year by his Government and the States ruled by the BJP and its allies, the Prime Minister said the country is equipping its youths with skills and education to harness emerging opportunities.
He also spoke about the recent recognition by UN bodies to several Indian places as tourism and heritage sites.
The Prime Minister said a boost in tourism is adding to employment sources and a similar trend is being seen in sports as the sector is growing, with Indian athletes performing better than before.
Addressing the function, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh, who is also Incharge DoPT said women recruitment has doubled since 2014 in Government jobs at different levels.
“Compared to just around 6-6.25% fresh women recruitments in the years preceding 2014, their numbers have more than doubled to 12-13% in the last more than nine years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.
Dr Jitendra Singh said the Prime Minister has empowered the Nari Shakti in every sector.
“A unique feature of the 10th Rozgar Mela is that women represent 21% of more than 50,000 fresh appointees. Overall, out of the over 6.48 lakh appointees in the 10 Rozgar Melas held during the last one year, more than 1.1 lakh are women employees, representing 17% of the total fresh recruitments,” the Union Minister said.
He said the Railways accounts for a majority of the fresh appointees during the 10th Rozgar Mela. Railways is an important part of our lives for more than 130 crore people of the country. Indian Railways has received focused attention in the last more than nine years of the present Government headed by PM Modi, he added.
In the last nine years, Dr Jitendra Singh said, Railway track length has nearly doubled to 25,000 km, compared to 14,985 km length laid during 65 years since Independence. Compared to 4,418 bridges and underpasses constructed till 2014, their number today stands at 10, 868,” he added.
“During PM Modi’s tenure, major works have been completed to bring the Kashmir valley on the rail map. The world’s tallest rail bridge in Reasi district of J&K had also been built as part of this project,” he said.
Dr Jitendra Singh said PM Modi has upgraded Indian Railways with a fleet of more than 34 most modern high-speed Vande Bharat trains and the Namo Bharat RRTS was inaugurated by PM Modi this month. Amrit Bharat stations, equipped with modern facilities and amenities, have also been added to make train travel an exhilarating experience.
Dr Jitendra Singh said railway safety has also vastly improved during the tenure of PM Modi. Compared to an average of 171 accidents annually till 2014, this figure has come down sharply to 71,” he said.
Meanwhile, in Jammu, Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern region and Cooperation BL Verma distributed 314 appointment letters to the youth physically at a function held at Jammu Convention Centre.
BJP MPs Jugal Kishore Sharma (Lok Sabha) and Gulam Ali Khatana (Rajya Sabha), District Development Council (DDC) Chairman Jammu Bharat Bhushan, Mayor Rajinder Sharma, Sanjay Sahu, Rail Manager Ferozepur Mandal and RK Singh, Rail Manager Upper Mandal were also present at the function.
Most of the youth in today’s Rozgar Mela were selected in the Railways though other Ministries were also contributors.
While addressing the gathering, B L Verma said that today 314 young individuals in Jammu and Kashmir have received their appointment letters and I extend my warm wishes to their families. He added that whether it’s the youth of Jammu and Kashmir or entire nation, everyone places their trust in the Prime Minister.
“We have created employment opportunities across various sectors, in addition to Government jobs”, he added.
