Rare Cattle Marriage: Cow Swayamvaram & Kalyanam performed in AP

KAKINADA, Oct 29 : The marriage with a difference-the bride is the sacred cow and reminding the mythological Swayamvaram the groom was selected from  one of the ten bulls participated in the  Swayamvaram.

The interesting cattle marriage took place in APSP Kalyana Mandapam in Ramanayyapeta area in the smart city on Sunday.

The Kanya Daatha’s are Dr Gowrie Sankar couple  of Tirumala hospital .

They were rearing a sacred cow of Punganur breed , which is a dwarf variety named it as  Saaranna. Noted Nadipathy doctor P Krishnamraju was rearing a large number of Punganur breed cattle at his farm in Yeleswaram.

Ten Punganur bulls brought from Yeleswaram farm      participated in the Swayamvaram.

The doctor’s couple reared cow has chosen the bull Shanmukha Kannaiah as its mate in the swayamvaram.

The Go-Vrushabha Kalyanam  was performed  with Dr Gouri Sankar couple  on behalf of bride and Pakalapati Narayanaraju couple on behalf of groom sitting amid chanting of vedic hymns by pundits which attracted the people of surrounding areas the most.

Dr Krishnamraju said that the Sacred cow marriage, probably first of its kind in the country, was performed to remind the people of the greatness of our ancient culture and sanathana dharma and values that are diminishing especially the marriage system.

Over 200 people attended the Go Swayamvaram and Go Vrushabha Kalyanam and enjoyed the feast arranged by the doctor couple. (UNI)
