*Pays tribute to Sardar Patel

JAMMU, Oct 31: Rich tribute were paid to the former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary today, by the Congress Party in Jammu and Sringar party headquarters besides in different districts and Block headquarters of the UT.
The main function was held at PCC head office, Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu under the chairmanship of Vikar Rasool Wani, its president. Working president Raman Bhalla, senior vice presidents Balwan Singh and Ravinder Sharma, besides vice presidents, general secretaries, District presidents Jammu Urban and Rural and frontal heads, secretaries and other prominent leaders attended the function.
Earlier, floral tribute were paid by garlanding the statue of Indira Gandhi at Indira Chowk Jammu by the PCC president Vikar Rasool Wani , Ex-PCC president and CWC Member GA Mir alongwith working president Raman Bhalla , and senior leaders Balwan Singh, Ravinder Sharma,Yogesh Sawhney, Sain Abdul Rashid, Narinder Gupta, Manmohan Singh, Shameema Raina, Vijay Sharma, Ritu Choudhary, Bhanu Mahajan besides others.
Rich tribute were also paid to Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, first Dy Prime Minister and Home Minister and one of the greatest stalwarts of the country, on his birth anniversary today. His services in the freedom struggle and in the strengthening and consolidation of the country after independence were recalled.

Addressing the gathering at Wani remembered supreme sacrifice of Late Gandhi for the unity and integrity of the nation. He said that Gandhi created history by providing an able and dynamic leadership to the Country and was acknowledged a strong and visionary leader in the world. She will always be remembered as a leader of masses with strong commitment to the upliftment of poor and down trodden.
Bhalla recalled her historical contributions in the form of Shimla Agreement, which binds Pakistan to settle all outstanding issues with India including Kashmir through bilateral means, strengthening of Non- Aliened Movement (NAM) in the world, besides librating Bangladesh for which her leadership was commended by Atal Behari Vajpayee who compared her to Goddess Durga. He said that Congressmen should remain committed and strengthen the principles for which Indira Gandhi lived and sacrificed her life.
Prominent among those who attended included Ved Mahajan, Naresh Gupta, Yash Pal Kundal, Vinod Sharma, Rajnish Sharma, Pranav Shagotra, MK Bhardwaj, Pawan Raina, Shashi Sharma, TS Tony, Naresh Sharma, Narinder Gupta, Amrit Bali, Shakeel Shah, Gurmit Singh, Narinder Sharma, Balbir Singh, Shakeel Mir, Subash Bhagat, Satish Sharma, Thomas Khokhar, Manmohan Singh , Shamsher Chib , Sanjeev Sharma , Pankaj Dogra , Vinod Khajuria Akash Bharat (PYC), Shameema Raina (MW) Vijay Sharma (SD) , Ajay Lakhotra ( NSUI), Karan Bhagat (SC), Madan Chalotra (OBC), Krishan Bhagat (Ex-MLA), Bhushan Dogra, Sanjeev Panda, Nirdosh Sharma, Rajveer SIngh, Hoshyar Singh and others.
Similar function was held at Party office Srinagar under the leadership of senior vice president of JKPCC Ghulam Nabi Monga. Rich tribute were paid to Late India Gandhi on her Martyrdom Day. The party leaders recalled the services and sacrifices of Late Indira Gandhi.
The leaders also paid floral tribute to Sardar Patel on his birth anniversary today. Prominent among those present included -former JKPCC chief Peerzada Mohd Sayeed, Mohd Anwar Bhat, SS Channi, Abdul Gani Khan, Fayaz Ahmed Dar, Nissar Ahmed Mundoo, Imtioaz Khandey, Shameema Iqbal and Shaheena Neda.
Meanwhile, J&K Youth Congress organised a blood donation camp in Jammu North (Ward 66, Lower Roop Nagar) to mark the day. It was organised by AYC president Jammu North Sunil Singh along with District Jammu urban team. Former PYC chief Uday Bhanu Chib, Jatinder Chib secretary JKPCC, Aniridh Sawhney and Sahil Langeh ( Gen Secys), Ajay Lakhotra State NSUI chief and others were also present. Dozens of Youth Congress activists / leaders donated blood for the cause of humanity.
Another Blood donation camp was organised under the leadership of PYC chief Akash Bharat on the Martyrdom Day of Late Indira Gandhi here. He said such camps were organised in every district of JKUT. About 185 units of blood was collected through the camps, he said.
