Various organizations celebrate National Unity Day

JAMMU, Oct 31: Different organizations here today organized various programmes to celebrate National Unity Day and Foundation Day of J&K Union Territory (UT).
Director National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, Prof. Sudhakar Yedla flagged off ‘Run for Unity’ to commemorate birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Prof. Yedla also administered ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ pledge emphasizing on the importance of unity and integrity in of India. He said that Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is regarded as Unifier of India and his relentless efforts in integrating princely states into a united and independent India have earned him a revered place in the history of India.
On National Unity Day, NSS units and NCC wings of Government SPMR College of Commerce organized a lecture on anti-corruption with theme ‘Say no to corruption and commit to the Nation’ wherein the resource person Dr. Sumaya Wani, Dy.SP J&K Police talked about anti-corruption measures. Principal of the College, Dr. Surinder Kumar said the College will be observing Vigilance Awareness Week from October 31 to November 5, 2023. About 200 students from the College took integrity pledge. Programmes were also organized to commemorate J&K UT Foundation Day, National Unity Day and Accession Day in College. Principal of the College threw light on milestones achieved during the last four years after formation of J&K UT.
NSS unit of GCW Bhagwati Nagar organized a pledge ceremony under the guidance of Dr. Meeru Abrol, Principal of the College to commemorate National Unity Day-birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. A pledge taking ceremony was held to reaffirm commitment to the spirit of unity and diversity of the nation. Principal of the College emphasized on the importance of unity in our diverse nation. The function concluded with showcasing a documentary ‘Sardar Patel: The Iron Man of India’.
GDC Purmandal celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and UT Foundation Day by organizing a series of activities like poster making competition, pledge taking ceremony and Run for Unity. Students from different semesters participated in all the activities and also prepared beautiful posters highlighting the major projects undertaken by J&K Government. Prof. (Dr.) Rajshree Dhar, Principal of the College said that changing phase of J&K UT provides ample opportunities to the people of J&K to develop a sense of unity, integrity and brotherhood.
On National Unity Day, the NSS Unit of GDC Bishnah in collaboration with the IQAC organized ‘Run for Unity’. Dr. Manohar Lal, Principal of the College exhorted the students to study about the life and contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and work for the National Unity of the country.
Accession Day and National Unity Day were celebrated at GDC Udhampur. Susheel Khajuria, Additional Secretary, Department of Higher Education was chief guest. The programmes were organized under the patronage of Principal, Prof. Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta. ‘Run for Unity’ was organized by the district administration from Mini Stadium to the grounds of the College and it culminated with Unity Pledge in the presence of Principal along with District Development Commissioner, Saloni Rai and other dignitaries.
On National Unity Day, Government Degree College (GDC) for Women, Kathua organized a pledge ceremony under the theme ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’. The event was attended by Principal, Dr. Savi Behl, teaching and non-teaching staff along with students.
National Unity Day pledge was administered to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by NSS Units GDC Kathua. Principal of the College, Prof. Seema Mir said that every Indian citizen should celebrate the National Unity Day in honour of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who played a great role in the accession and integration of the princely states into the Union of India after Independence.
GDC Mahanpur celebrated National Unity Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. NSS unit and Unnat Bhart Abhiyan Unit under the guidance of Principal, Dr. Sangeeta Sudan organized a pledge ceremony and Run for Unity for students and staff.
National Unity Day and Accession Day were celebrated at GDC Akhnoor and the chief guest was Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma, Special Secretary Higher Education Department. Principal of the College, Dr. Romilla Malla Bhat said that Indian philosophy of unity in diversity and ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ makes India one great nation despite.
GDC Ramkote celebrated National Unity Day and organized various activities. The programme commenced with paying of floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. A documentary on the life and contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was also shown. Prof. Ramneek Kaur, Principal of the College threw light on the importance of conducting such events which shall spread awareness among the youth about rich culture and heritage of India.
National Unity Day and UT Foundation Day were celebrated at Government Degree College Dharmari with great enthusiasm. The college organized a series of events to commemorate these days. The celebrations started in early hours with ‘Run for Unity’ event held in collaboration with Sub-District Magistrate Dharmari. On this occasion Principal of the College, Dr. Preetpal Kour spoke eloquently about the significance of National Unity Day.
NSS Unit of GDC Darhal celebrated National Unity Day and paid tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. NSS Unit (IMDAD) of GDC Darhal organized a pledge ceremony which was followed by ‘Run for Unity’ to spread the message of unity and integrity among fellow countrymen. The whole event was organized under the guidance of Prof. Mussaraf Hussain Shah, Principal of the College.
Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI) celebrated National Unity Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. On this occasion, a pledge for unity, integrity and security of the Nation was taken by cops and trainees of the Institute under the command of Shiv Kumar, Principal PTTI Vijaypur. Subsequently, a march-past was organized in which staff and trainees participated. Speaking on the occasion, Principal PTTI Vijaypur said that ‘National Unity Day’ was introduced by the Government of India in 2014 and since then it is being celebrated every year on October 31 across the country. Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur celebrated National Unity Day. On this occasion Rajinder Kumar Gupta, Deputy Director (Indoor/Trg) SKPA Udhampur took salute of General Parade and inspected the parade contingents. Speaking on the occasion he talked about the importance of this historical day. He said this day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who was the first Deputy Prime Minister and first Home Minister of India who really unified the country.
To mark the National Unity Day, a Run for Unity was organized in Jammu to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The Run was flagged off by Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police, Anand Jain from Gulshan Ground, Jammu and it concluded at Maharaja Hari Singh Park. Heads of different departments, students from local schools and civil society members made the event a grand success. Commissioner JMC, Rahul Yadav; Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishya; SSP Jammu, Vinod Kumar besides HoDs of various departments participated in the event.
Samba police organized grand Ekta Diwas parade at District Police Lines (DPL) Samba where SSP Samba, Benam Tosh took salute and administered oath of unity to different contingents of CISF, ITBP, IRP, District Police, SDRF, Women contingent, band party and students. DDC Chairman Keshav Dutt and Deputy Commissioner Samba, Abhishek Sharma addressed the Parade and advised the participants to work towards unity, integrity and eternal security of the country.
Ramban Police organized various events on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and J&K UT Foundation Day under the guidance of SSP Ramban, Mohita Sharma. Run for Unity and unity pledge were some of the activities organized on this occasion at District Police Lines Ramban. ‘Run for Unity’ started from Maitra Chowk Ramban and culminated at District Police Lines Ramban. Tributes were paid to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary.
On birth anniversary of first Home Minister of India, Late Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, celebrated as National Unity Day, 160 Battalion KR organized a 5 km run organized by PU Force and it was led by Rajeev Ranjan, IPS, himself. Deputy Inspector General of Police, Range Hiranagar and Hariom Khare, Commandant 160 Battalion, Angom Nerash Singh (Second Commanding Officer), Gaurav Somvanshi, (Deputy Commandant), Dr. Manmohan Meena (Medical Officer) of 160 Battalion were also present on the occasion.
On National Unity Day a ‘Run For Unity’ was organized in the memory of Police Martyrs of Reasi. The event was organized under the overall supervision of Amit Gupta, SSP Reasi who flagged off the Run. During the event DC Reasi, Babila Rakwal, Master Popsy, Addl. SP Reasi, Neeraj Padyar, Dy.SP Hqrs Reasi, Inspector Vijay Sharma SHO Reasi and others were also present. Pledge ceremonies were also held in DPL Reasi.
To celebrate birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, 84 Bn CRPF organized a ‘Run for Unity’ which was flagged off by N. Ranbir Singh, Commandant 84 Bn CRPF from near Patnitop to Nathatop. The event was participated by more than 100 Officers and personnel of 84 Bn, personnel of 61 RR, students of Government Model High School Batote and volunteers of Patnitop area. A Pledge of Unity was also taken by all the participants.
Indian Reserve Police celebrated National Unity Day at IRP-19th Battalion Headquarters Kathua where Dr. Koshal Kumar Sharma, Commandant administered pledge of unity, integrity and security to the officers and Jawans. Apart from this, pledge taking ceremonies were also organized at all Company Headquarters and Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge was administered in which large number of officers and lower subordinates participated.
Northern Railway organized ‘Run for Unity’ to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. On this occasion, Shobhan Chaudhuri, General Manager, Northern Railway administered the Unity Pledge to officers and staff of Northern Railway Headquarter Office and Delhi Division at State Entry Road New Delhi. A.K Singhal, Additional General Manager, Northern Railway, Sukhvinder Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Delhi and Senior Officers and staff of Northern Railway and Delhi Division were also present.
NHPC Limited celebrated National Unity Day at its Corporate Office and across its various regional offices, power stations, projects and units on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel), NHPC administered pledge for ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ to NHPC employees at NHPC Corporate Office, Faridabad. Santosh Kumar, Chief Vigilance Officer, NHPC was also present on the occasion. A special ‘Run for Unity’ and ‘Fit India Swachhta Freedom Run 4.0’ was organized on the occasion wherein a large number of NHPC employees participated with great enthusiasm.
CVPPPL Corporate Office, Jammu celebrated National Unity Day on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. ‘National Unity Day’ pledge was administered during the programme and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was remembered for his contributions in freedom struggle, unification of India and various reforms in the early days of Independence. The program ended with active participation of all employees of CVPPPL along with security personnel and R&M contract staff in ‘Run for Unity’ programme.
Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association (CGPWA) Jammu celebrated birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. At a special meeting, the CGPWA members led by its president, Kuldeep Khoda, took the pledge of working to preserve the unity, integrity & security of India. The General Secretary K.B Jandial administered the pledge.
Directorate of Tourism, Jammu in collaboration with the District Administration, Samba and Government Polytechnic College Jammu, orchestrated an extraordinary celebration to mark J&K Union Territory Foundation Day. Centerpiece of the celebration was a one-day trekking expedition from tranquil Tourist village Mohargarh to Mansar Lake. The flag-off ceremony was held at Government Polytechnic College, Jammu and was graced by the presence of Sunaina Mehta Sharma, Joint Director Tourism Jammu and Principal of Government Polytechnic College Bikram Chowk, Jammu. In her address, Ms. Sharma emphasized Directorate of Tourism Jammu’s commitment to promoting adventure tourism in the region.
To celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, an Ekta Yatra was organized in District Anantnag to promote national integration and inclusivity of India. Leading the Yatra, Deputy Commissioner, S.F Hamid expressed gratitude for overwhelming support and participation from the people. The Union Territory Foundation Day was also celebrated with great enthusiasm across the district.
Purnima Sharma, Spokesperson BJP J&K UT and former Deputy Mayor remembered Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary by organizing ‘Run for Unity’ in Jammu East Constituency. Parmodh Kapahi, District President BJP, Subash Anand, Bhubaneswar Singh and hundreds of school students participated in the marathon. Speaking on the occasion, Parmodh Kapahi said in order to give due respect to the architect of modern India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and recognition to his contribution, BJP celebrated his birthday every year.
