Bar Association Budgam suspends indefinite strike

SRINAGAR, Oct 31: District Bar Association Budgam has suspended its indefinite strike in view of the positive response given by the concerned authorities over shifting of courts to Ichgam.
The Bar Association members were observing indefinite strike and abstaining from court following a call given by DBAB since October 25 for shifting of the district court complex.
Even as the shifting of the court complex was decided by the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, which asked for transferring an area of 117 Kanals and 18 Marlas to the judiciary, some bottlenecks were allegedly being created by the district administration.
“An order for transfer of the land was passed by the Registrar General High Court asking the Commissioner Secretary Revenue to transfer the said land to Judiciary. Even as the Commissioner Secretary Revenue also passed the order, the authorities at District level were creating bottlenecks,” alleged the Bar Association in a press release.
However, following assurance from the concerned authorities over necessary action on transfer of the said land, the Bar Association today suspended its indefinite strike.
