Dogra Samaj Trust Delhi commemorates 2nd Foundation Day

NEW DELHI, Oct 31: Dogra Samaj Trust Delhi commemorated its second Foundation Day in a resplendent celebration filled with the vibrant hues of Dogra and Himachali culture at Satya Sai Auditorium in New Delhi.
The event was a spectacular amalgamation of music, dance, art and culinary delights that resonated with the rich heritage of the Dogra community.
The event began with serving of traditional Dogra snacks such as Kalari, Sund and tea, skillfully catered by Monika Dogra and Sanjeev Kapoor. Neha Sharma provided a brief introduction of the trust and the essence of Dogra art and culture.
Patron in Chief, Dr Karan Singh and other esteemed dignitaries were welcomed by Trustees Jitender Singh Jamwal and Mahesh Chander. The festivities commenced with an evocative audio-visual presentation by Mahesh Chander, highlighting the valour of the Dogra community.
On the occasion, Dr Karan Singh’s website was launched. A highlight of the evening was the relaunch of Kunwar Viyogi’s timeless song ‘KUNJUA’, presented by Dogra talents Kriti Singh, Cherish Banhotra, and Kashika Bassi, created by Jitender Singh Jamwal, under the guidance of Poonam Jamwal, Chairperson of Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust.
The program further unfolded with captivating performances, including Himachali music and dance by Richa Sharma and her ensemble, traditional folk dances like Naati and Jhamakda. A soulful Dogri song by local artist Dheeraj Sharma and an Himachali dance by young Anvi Sharma were presented on the occasion.
Daughter of Manmohan Pahari, Renu Pahari graced the stage with an expressive performance on ‘Tu Malla Tu’, a composition by the revered Padma Sachdev and sung by one and only Lata Mangeshkar. Young Karnveer Jamwal enacted in this song. Guru Kanika Ghosh Singh and her students captivated the audience with a mesmerizing dance to the legendary bhajan ‘Shiv Shambu’, sung by Dr. Karan Singh.
Manju Wazir and her students delivered a spellbinding Dogri folk dance. Trustee and renowned Ghazal singer, Jitender Singh Jamwal, enraptured the audience with his melodious renditions of ‘Mai Ni Meriye’ and ‘Mere Hikduai’, concluding the evening on a high note,
Dr Karan Singh felicitated the artists with certificates, acknowledging their remarkable contributions to the cultural extravaganza. His address enlightened the audience about the history and significance of Dogra culture.
