JAMMU, Oct 31: A drug peddler was arrested with 16 kilograms of poppy straw from Tanda area falling under the jurisdiction of Police Post Chowki Choura here.
A police spokesperson said that a team of Police Post Chowki Choura led by SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Lal Sharma assisted by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq and incharge Police Post Chowki Choura PSI Pankaj Katoch while on naka duty at Tanda Highway rounded up one suspect.
On searching the suspect, he said, 16 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered.
Accordingly, the accused, identified as Zafar Ahmad of Lassana, Surankote, Poonch, was booked in case FIR number 288/2023 Under Sections 8/15/60 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Akhnoor and further investigation started.
