242 NDPS cases, 425 arrests till Oct: Baramulla Police

SRINAGAR, Nov 1: Police today announced that they have registered 242 cases under the NDPS Act and have arrested 425 drug peddlers, including 69 hard-core drug peddlers booked under PIT NDPS PSA in Baramulla district this year so far.
Additionally, the police stated that property worth Rs 2.3 crores, consisting of 3 houses, 3 vehicles, and cash amounting to Rs. 1.2 crores, has also been attached.
“Contraband substances worth crores have been recovered, and the concerted efforts of the Baramulla Police have resulted in a significant reduction in drug peddling cases, Police said.”
During the first half of the year, from January to June, the police reported an increase in cases, with the number surging from 10 to 40 cases in April alone.
However, in July, the police noted that Baramulla Police registered 18 cases related to drug peddling, signaling the beginning of a positive shift in the fight against this menace.
“This trend continued through the subsequent months, with 15 cases recorded in August and 18 cases in September, demonstrating consistent efforts to combat drug-related crimes,” the police said.
