Srinagar, Nov 1: Police today reported that in the current year, 177 cases and 459 arrests have been made in Baramulla district in connection with the illegal mining of minerals.
The police also stated that they have seized 458 vehicles used for the illegal transport of minerals, including 210 tippers, 238 tractors, and 10 excavators from various areas in the district.
Authorities further mentioned that Baramulla Police, in collaboration with the Mineral Department, has collected fines amounting to lakhs for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in the district.
The police emphasized that their actions against violators who take advantage of the night hours for illegal mineral extraction will continue.
