Shabir pays surprise visit to SDH Akhnoor; fines BMO, others

JAMMU, Jan 14: Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan today ordered imposition of fine of Rs. 1000 on Block Medical Officer Sub-District Hospital, Akhnoor, for dereliction of duties. He also ordered imposition of fine of Rs. 500 each on X-Ray Technician and Laboratory Assistant for negligence in their duties in the hospital.
The Minister this morning paid surprise inspection to the hospital and found that some officials had not attended to their duties as per the duty roster. He, while checking the attendance register of the staff, found some official absent from their duties.
Taking serious note, the Minister ordered Director Health Services Jammu to impose fine for creating mismanagement, indiscipline in the hospital and showing carelessness in duty. He also ordered concerned higher ups to initiate an inquiry against the absentee officials for stern action under rules. . He also directed concerned authorities to take immediate steps for ensuring proper management in the hospital to avoid inconveniences to the patients.
The Minister went round each section of the hospital, enquired about the welfare of the patients besides he also took stock of the medicare facilities provided to the patients. He gave direction to the concerned for further improvement in the sanitation facilities in and around the hospital besides ensuring hassle free treatment facilities to the patients. He also issued strict orders for providing free treatment facilities to the expecting mothers and infants besides to and fro transport facilities to them under JSSY.
The Minister emphasized the need for effective implementation of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) flagship programme to ensure universalization of health services in rural areas.  He asked the doctors and paramedics to discharge their duties carefully and serve the patients with a missionary zeal.
