JAMMU, Nov 3: Mystery shrouded death of a 13-year old girl, who died during treatment at District Hospital Udhampur, last evening.
The deceased, identified as Sharda Devi, daughter of Late Nek Ram of Phagyal, Tikri, was an orphan and had been staying with her maternal uncle.
Reports said that the girl had gone to the house of her aunt (mother’s sister) where she fell seriously ill. She was brought to Tikri Hospital and then referred to District Hospital Udhampur where she died during treatment.
However, the case turned doubtful when maternal aunt of the deceased approached Police Post Tikri and sought postmortem of the body alleging some foul play in death of the girl.
Following this, an inquest proceeding under section 174/CrPC was initiated vide DDR No. 16 of dated 03.11.2023 in PP Tikri and the dead body was again shifted to the District hospital for conducting postmortem.
According to Police, the body had no injury mark or any sign of suspicion even as the exact cause of death would be ascertained only after the postmortem report is received.
