Over Rs 90L realized as 273 cases settled in Special Lok Adalat

KATHUA, Nov 4: An amount of over Rs 90 lakh was realized in a Special Lok Adalat that was held here today.
A statement said that the Special Lok Adalat, inaugurated in the District Court Complex, Kathua, with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by Ashok Kumar Shavan, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kathua, who happens to be the Principal District and Sessions Court, Kathua, was organized under the directions of Justice Tashi Rabstan, Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Service Authority.
During the Special Lok Adalat, the statement said that matrimonial disputes, MACT, bank recovery cases, criminal compoundable cases, and other pre-litigation matters of the calendar year 2023 were taken up for settlement.
“A total of 384 cases of different nature were taken up for their amicable settlement in the Special Lok Adalat. Out of them, 273 were settled and an amount of Rs 90, 03, 994 was realized as a settlement amount,” read the statement.
It said that a total of six benches were constituted for settling the referred cases. While the bench number one comprised of Ashok Kumar Shavan, Principal District and Sessions Judge Kathua and Surinder Kumar Thappa, Special Mobile Magistrate Kathua the bench number two comprised of Kusoom Pandita, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Kathua, and Cheena Sumbria, Munsiff, JMIC Kathua.
The bench number three comprised of Swati Gupta, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kathua and Neena Thakur, District Mobile Magistrate, Kathua and the bench number four comprised of Jeevan Kumar Sharma, Munsiff JMIC, Basohli, and advocate Shub Kumar, President, Bar Association Basohli.
While the bench number 5 comprised of Jyoti Bhagat, Munsiff JMIC, Billawar, and Poonam Gupta, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Billawar, the bench number six comprised of Rimpi Rani, Munsiff JMIC, Hiranagar, and Vijay Kumar, President, Bar Association, Hiranagar.
Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Kathua coordinated the Special Lok Adalat.
