JAMMU, Nov 4: Owner of a four-wheeler in Jammu has expressed displeasure with the transport authorities for allegedly registering two vehicles with the same number.
Gourav Dogra son of late Thoru Ram of Lakkar Mandi, Jammu, claimed that he purchased a Swift VXIBSIV (JK02CA-9584) vehicle from Jammu Motors Pvt Ltd, Akhnoor Road, Jammu, on October 19, 2017.
“And I am driving this vehicle since then,” he said.
On February 27, 2022, Gaurav said he was approached telephonically by someone from Qazigund, Anantnag, who asked him if he was interested in selling his vehicle. Gaurav said he categorically denied selling his vehicle.
But in a puzzling turn of events, Gaurav said, the person who sent him a query earlier surprised him by sharing on his WhatsApp number a duplicate RC bearing same registration number, chassis number and engine number.
He said except the date of the purchase of the vehicle and the name of the authorized dealer, even the colour of the vehicle was same.
Hardly Gaurav was in a position to understand how two vehicles with similar number could be registered he got another surprise on October 5, 2023 when he received an online challan for road safety violation at Qamarwari, Batmaloo Road, Balgarden, Srinagar, in spite of the fact that he didn’t visit Kashmir in entire October month.
Since Gaurav claimed he has not sold his vehicle, he feared that someone in Kashmir is using another vehicle with the same fake number plate.
“And there are apprehensions that the person could be involved in some anti-national activities. As such, the police and transport authorities should check his credentials and bring him to justice,” demanded Gaurav.
