JAMMU, Nov 4: Deputy Mayor Jammu, Baldev Singh Billawaria conducted a tour of Bhour Camp, Ward No. 73 in RS Pura-Jammu South constituency here, today.
During his visit Deputy Mayor was accompanied by the Chief Transport Officer (CTO) of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and other department officials. The purpose of the visit was to assess the condition of the infrastructure and public spaces within the locality. During the visit, it was observed that the bridge connecting to Bhour Camp is in a severely damaged condition. Billawaria expressed concern over the unsafe condition of the bridge and assured the residents that necessary repair work would be undertaken promptly. He said that discussions with the Public Works Department (PWD) and JMC have been initiated to address the issue at the earliest. Billawaria emphasised the importance of public spaces by visiting the Bagh-e-Bhour park. Recognising the significance of recreational areas, he highlighted the need to make the Bagh-e-Bhour park accessible to morning walkers free of charge. He said that this initiative aims to encourage the community’s health and wellness. Deputy Mayor also showed concern over deteriorating condition of the shopping complex constructed by the Department of Rural Development under Model Village at Bhour Camp. He noted with concern that the complex has become a hotspot for antisocial activities due to its dilapidated condition. He urged both the authorities and the local community to take responsibility for the upkeep and security of the property to prevent further misuse. Deputy Mayor emphasised, the upkeep of civic infrastructure which he said is vital for the well-being of the people. “We are committed to addressing these issues and maintaining a safe and functional environment for the residents of Bhour Camp.”
The deteriorating condition of the bridge connecting to Bhour Camp, the local park, and the concerning situation surrounding the shopping complex have become focal points requiring immediate attention and rejuvenation. Efforts are underway to address these issues, he said.
Deputy Mayor pledged to improve the living conditions and overall well-being of the residents in the area.
Billawaria said that the JMC remains dedicated to collaborative efforts with the concerned departments and the local populace for the upliftment of Bhour Camp.
