IPD services begin in State Cancer Institute

JAMMU, Nov 6: The 100-bedded State Cancer Institute (SCI) Jammu started IPD services today.
Principal and Dean, GMC Jammu, Dr Ashutosh Gupta while inaugurating the IPD services said, “Advance medical equipments including PET Scan, Linear Accelerators with IMRT, IGRT, SRT facility, Brachytherapy Machine and CT Simulator will be installed soon and made functional in the Institute for the benefit of the cancer patients”.
He said, “Our aim is to provide advance cancer care services to the people of Jammu region so that they should not have to go outside J&K for any type of cancer treatment”.
It is pertinent to mention here that SCI was functioning with Daycare Chemotherapy and OPD services earlier. The OPD and Daycare chemotherapy services were started in the month of February this year with an aim to provide doorstep treatment to the cancer patients from all over the Jammu region.
Dr Deepak Kumar (Medical Superintendent, SCI Jammu) said that the start of IPD services in the Institute will ensure round the clock patient care services and will act as a boon for patients coming from far off areas to Jammu for cancer treatment. He apprised that within the next few months, all types of cancer care services will be provided under one roof in SCI Jammu.
Others present on the occasion were Dr Rajiv Gupta (Professor, Medical Oncology), Dr Sunny Jandial (Lecturer, Medical Oncology) and Jivtesh Singh (CAO, GMC and SCI) along with other staff members.
