JAMMU, Nov 7: The monthly meeting of the Retirees Police League District Jammu was held here at Police Officer Mess today, wherein the retired police officers highlighted their grievances.
A statement said that the meeting attended by SP City South, Shaheen Wahid, was conducted under the chairmanship of S Karanjit Singh, DSP retired, who is President of the Retirees Police League Jammu District.
During the meeting, the retired police officers demanded that the welfare schemes for the retirees need to be reviewed and framed afresh, keeping in mind the changing situations on the ground.
They said that the policies framed for them are not implemented adequately on the ground.
They appealed for direction to the local police units to maintain record of the retired police personnel in their jurisdictions to hold regular meetings with them to know about their welfare and problems.
Some of them discussed about the harassment they faced in renewing their gun licences. As such, they demanded that the process for renewal of the weapon licenses be simplified.
The retired police personnel also demanded that special reservation be kept in all the departments for their wards.
Further, they demanded that doctors be availed to them in their monthly meetings and special medical camps be organised for them in the DPL Jammu.
Former SSP Mahadeep Singh Jamwal, President Retirees Police League District Udhampur, also attended the meeting, while requesting the administration to look into the issues of the retired personnel.
SP South, Shaheen Wahid gave a patient hearing to the retired police personnel and promised to provide all possible help.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Ch Chirag Din, SSP; Makhan Lal Sharma, ML Mehra, Mukesh Kumar, SSP SR Datta, Ch Gulzar Ahmad, VS Kundal, SPs Yoginder Singh, Khalil ur Rehman, and others.
