GMC Srinagar holds CME on ‘World Radiology Day’

SRINAGAR, Nov 8: The Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar today celebrated the 12th World Radiology Day with this year’s theme, “Radiology: Illuminating Health, Inspiring Care, Shaping the Future.”
The event was attended by faculty and students from various medical colleges in the Union Territory (UT).
Professor (Dr.) Masood Tanvir, the Principal GMC Srinagar emphasized the importance of radiologists in patient care management and expressed hope that the deliberations and lectures of the event would benefit the participants.
“Radiologists are critical not only for the diagnosis of diseases but also for treating various diseases using minimally invasive interventional procedures, ultimately helping to save patients’ lives,” he said.
Professor (Dr.) Majid Jahangir, the Organizing Chairperson and HoD of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at GMC Srinagar lauded Professor (Dr.) Rafiq Ahmed Pampori, for his outstanding contribution and tireless efforts in reviving the college after all its equipment was destroyed in the deluge of 2014.
During the event, a number of scientific sessions were conducted, including live demonstrations of functional MRI, 3D USG-based navigational biopsy, and fusion imaging.
