Hiranagar police seizes 50 quarters of illicit liquor, arrests bootlegger

KATHUA; Nov 9: In an act of alertness and prompt action Kathua police seized 50 quarters of JK Excise Desi Whisky and arrested one person in this regard.
Police said on Wednesday an information was received through a reliable source at PS Hiranagar that one person namely Rakesh Kumar, son of Madan Lal of Kootah, tehsil Hiranagar is involved in sale and purchase of illicit liquor (JK Excise Desi Whisky) in the JD of PS Hiranagar at Lokhali and Badholi area. Acting swiftly police team led by Inspector, Arun Koul, SHO PS Hiranagar under the guidance of SDPO Border, Dheeraj Singh Katoch JKPS during special checking/ patrolling in its jurisdictional area noticed that one person was selling illicit liquor to the people in order to gain illegitimate profit and he was roaming under suspicious circumstances.
During checking the police team was able to apprehend the person who was enrouted from Hiranagar Morh towards Badholi and recovered 50 quarters of JK Excise Desi Whisky from his illegal possession.
Thereafter all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor i. e 50 quarters of JK Excise Desi Whisky were seized and one bootlegger was arrested on the spot. An instant case vide FIR No.187 /2023 U/S 48(a)/ Excise Act was registered at PS Hiranagar and further investigation into this matter has been geared up.
