Children Day celebrated with pomp and show across J&K

JAMMU, Nov 14: Children Day was celebrated today with pomp and show across Jammu and Kashmir to commemorate first Prime Minister of India Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru on his birth anniversary.
District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Samba organized a cultural program at Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel Samba to celebrate Children Day. This program was presided over by Yesh Pal Kotwal Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Samba (Principal District & Sessions Judge Samba), who in his address stressed upon the rights of education of the children as enshrined in the Constitution of India. The students of the hostel performed different activities such as group dance and presented Gojri ghazal and speeches. The program had the presence of Mustaq Choudhary (Assitant Warden of the Hostel) Nisha Rani (Deputy LADC, DLSA Samba) and Rekha Kapoor Nischal (Secretary, DLSA Samba).
To mark the Day, NGO Support organized a workshop campaign on the importance of Activism of Children’s Movement for Civic Improvement wherein children of four cooperative schools of Deeli, Amphala, Janipur and Talab Tillo participated under the guidance of Principal Jyoti Chib. The session started on teaching cleanliness to the children with a broader aspect of developing civic sense in them. Founder of the NGO, Dr Navneet Kour stated that, “Civic sense is an awareness of the norms of our society, like respect for the law and other members of the society, maintaining etiquette while dealing and interacting with others, and discharging our duties as citizens of the country. Thirty-three children were awarded medals and were titled as the ambassadors for this activism campaign.
Humanity welfare organization ‘Helpline’ in collaboration with Government Degree College (GDC) Utrusoo (Shangus) organized an art event on eve of National Children Day at College premises. Around 400 children belonging to disability sector, tribal communities, BPL families, backward areas and children in need of care and protection enrolled in different child care instructions participated in the event. Chief Education Officer Anantnag was chief guest on the occasion. Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, presented a paper on child rights. District administration gifted sports kits among the special children of Zaiba Aapa Institute of inclusive education.
