Manyal, Purnima kick-start work of Aarti Ghat on River Tawi

JAMMU, Nov 14: Dr D.K Manyal, BJP general secretary, J&K, and former Minister, along with Purnima Sharma, spokesperson and former Deputy Mayor, today kickstarted the development work of Aarti Ghat on the bank of River Tawi near Balram Ji Mandir on the pattern of Ganga Ghat, Haridwar.
The development work was started with an estimated cost of Rs 18 lakh. On the occasion, Gopal Gupta, Chairman, Swachh Bharat Committee, Manav, Gopal Sotra, VIkram Bashin, Vishal Gupta, Anu Gupta, Nischal , Suresh Kumar, Subash Anand, Gopal Sharma and Rama were present.
Dr D.K Manyal in his address said, “The development of Aarti Ghat is a long-pending demand of the people of Jammu. We are happy to announce that the work has finally started and will be completed soon. This Ghat will be a place where people can come to worship and perform Aarti on the banks of River Tawi,” he added.
Manyal said, “Jammu is a City of Temples and the present Government is committed to make Jammu and Kashmir a religious pilgrimage destination. The development of Aarti Ghat is a step in this direction. This Ghat will be a major attraction for tourists and pilgrims from all over the country,” he added.
Purnima Sharma, in her address, highlighted the significance of Suryaputri River Tawi. She said, “River Tawi is a sacred river for the people of Jammu. It is also known as Suryaputri, which means the daughter of the Sun God. This river has played an important role in the history and culture of Jammu.”
Purnima said that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed unprecedented development under the Modi regime. She said that the Government has invested heavily in infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and tourism in the Union Territory. She also highlighted the development of Aarti Ghat on the banks of River Tawi as a major achievement of the BJP Government. She appealed to the people of Jammu to extend full support to BJP in the ensuing elections to continue the spree of development.
