Police files charge-sheet against 2 smugglers under NDPSA

SAMBA, Nov 15: Samba police has filed charge-sheet against two NDPSA accused including one advocate, who are presently in Jail on judicial custody.
Police said on September 9 this year one advocate namely Israr Talib of Rajouri and another accused namely Kanav Mangotra of Jammu were arrested by police at infamous ‘Chitta’ hotspot of Balole Khad, Bari Brahmana and heroin worth Rs 85000 approximately was recovered from their possession during the search conducted in the presence of Executive Magistrate First Class and Gazetted Police Officer (SDPO).
Police had obtained their remand and subsequently they were logded in Kathua Jail on judicial custody. On the basis of substantial evidence, police proved the offence U/S’s 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act against the accused and today produced the challan of the case in the court of Principal Sessions Judge, Samba for judicial determination, police said.
The investigation of the case was conducted by PSI, Nirmal Singh and PSI, Divya Bharti under the supervision of SHO Police Station, Bari Brahmana, Sumit Sharma, SDPO ,Bari Brahmana, Rahul Nagar and Additional SP Samba, Surinder Choudhary.
On the directions of SSP Samba, Benam Tosh, police is conducting in depth investigation in all heroin-related cases in Samba district taking tough stance against heroin smugglers/suppliers/peddlers and no body involved in heroin trafficking is being spared.
