JAMMU, Nov 18: National Conference (NC) here today organised a daylong meeting of its Jammu District Women Wing Urban.
The meeting was chaired by Pinky Khalsa, District president Women Wing Jammu Urban.
On the occasion, Ajay Sadhotra, additional general secretary NC; Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial president Jammu; Sheikh Bashir Ahmed and Ayub Malik, Provincial secretaries; Bimla Luthra and Satwant Dogra, Provincial president Women Wing Jammu; Depinder Kaur, former MLC; Vijay Lakshmi Datta, ex-Provincial president Women Wing; Dilshad Malik and Som Raj Taroch were present.
At beginning of the meeting, Satwant Dogra apprised senior functionaries of the Party about problems being faced by the women in J&K due to hollow policies of the Government.
Addressing party workers, Ajay Sadhotra said that NC has always been at the forefront of the struggle for gender equality and it remains committed to ensure that women in J&K are empowered in every possible way.
Rattan Lal Gupta criticized the ruling party for their inadequate efforts to uplift women in Indian politics.
He said that NC during its rule in J&K gave 50 per cent reservation to women in medical seats with a sole motive to empower them.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmed called upon all political parties and civil society organizations to come together to support the cause of women empowerment.
