JAMMU, Jan 19: Former legislators in a meeting discussed various issues and sought to draw the attention of the Chief Minister towards them, here today.
The annual working committee meeting of Ex-legislators’ Welfare Council ( J&K) was held at MLA Hostel here today under the chairmanship of former NC MLA, Qazi Jalal-ud-Din from Kishtwar. During the meeting, various issues with regard to over all development/ welfare of the people in general and ex-legislators in particular were discussed and the working committee members also pledged to work for the unity, integrity and peace of the State. Latest political scenario was also one of the agenda in the meeting.
While discussing issues and problems of the former legislators, the Council members resolved to take up the same with the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for their redressal. They also expressed their concern over the high inflation rate and rising prices of essential commodities and demanded that Government must take appropriate measures in this regard.
On this occasion, the Council members paid tributes to some former State legislators who passed away in the recent past. They included Late Daya Krishan Kotwal, Mohi-ud-Din Malik, Bhagat Gouri Shanker, M. Mijahid, Ram Chand Bhagat and Mohd Maqbool Lone. They also recalled their contributions for the society.
