JAMMU, Nov 21: With the aim to preserve promote and activate the splendid art heritage of Jammu & Kashmir and stimulate & rejuvenate it into a blossoming art movement, Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA) was established in 1999.
Its three pronged strategy is unleash the progress of fine arts, languages and literature.
JKCCA last year hunted for the talent of Ritika Verma, a young school girl from Nud in Samba District and took responsibility to polish her talent in clay modelling. She was given due training under the guidance by veteran sculptor with the support of JKCCA and she brought laurel to the UT by winning the National level competition held during National Kala Utsav in Odisha.
O P Sharma, Director JKCCA, said that this year JKCCA has selected Sujata Manhas of village Sundhara in District Doda, a student of class XI of Government Higher Secondary School, Khellani for supporting her for training in Painting under the guidance of well known senior painter artist(s) of Jammu & Kashmir.
“This will enable her to prepare for competing in the National art event in future. She had recently participated and displayed her Paintings in the State level Kala Utsav organized at Jammu. Sujata has not got any formal training in painting. JKCCA will engage teacher for her further training in painting,” he said.
Sharma said that JKCCA will make efforts in future also to explore more and more opportunities to further its activities in all the aspects of visual, literary and performing arts.
JKCCA has successfully organized fifteen International Art Exhibitions (Physical and Online), and many state and national level art exhibitions and camps so far.
