UDHAMPUR, Nov 21: Going tough against traffic violations, Udhampur Police today arrested an auto rickshaw driver for overloading and booked more than 90 traffic violators under different sections of Motor Vehicle Act.
During checking, one auto bearing registration number . JK14G-3829 and plying from Udhampur to Kotli Baala, was found carrying 16 passengers, double of its permissible capacity. Further the auto was being driven rashly and negligently.
Police team seized the auto and arrested its driver, namely Jeet Singh, son of Mukhtityar Singh, resident of Kotli Baala Udhampur. A case FIR number .591/2023 U/S 279336 IPC of Police Station Udhampur has been registered against the accused driver.
The special drive is focused on visible offences and maintaining road safety. During this intensified campaign, traffic violators especially bike riders and overloaded vehicles are being challaned.
A special squad has also been constituted by the DPL exclusively for the enforcement of Traffic rules. Special drives are being conducted in all police stations and police posts to advise the driver and bike riders to abide by the traffic rules.
