MENDHAR, Nov 24: Javed Ahmed Rana, President JKNC Pirpanjal Zone and former Legislator, today called for the restoration of democratic values in Jammu and Kashmir by holding ULB, Panchayat, and ULB elections.
In a statement issued here today, the former Legislator said that the tenure of PRI institutions in Jammu and Kashmir is going to complete but the incumbent Government is adopting dilly-dally tactics to delay the ULB and Panchayat polls.
Highlighting the discrepancy between the Government’s claim of providing a three-tier democracy in Jammu and Kashmir and the delayed electoral processes, Javed Rana stressed the importance of adhering to the PRI Act, according to which, the Government is obligated to conduct ULB and Panchayat elections promptly after the completion of PRI tenure.
“On one hand, the Government is claiming to provide three-tier democracy in Jammu and Kashmir, and on the other hand, the Government is depriving the people from the democratic set up,” he added.
